New world record at Stick it to MS 2012 UK drummers smash previous world record A total of 798 drummers took part in the 2012 Stick it to MS charity fundraiser and probably smashed the previous Guinness World Record of 580, set in 2009. The percussionists aimed to have the largest ensemble of full drum kit players, playing at the same time for five minutes in order to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The event, sponsored by Natal and Marshall Amplification, took place at Event City in Manchester, UK on July 15th.

The sponsorship money raised so far via online donations totals just over £59,000. This doesn't take into account money raised via sponsorship forms.

Stick it to MS now needs to gather and compile all the documentary evidence for Guinness and submit it to them. It can take Guinness a couple of months to confirm the record.

Event organiser Rick Prince, who is a drummer himself, states:
"The sound of the participants all playing together for the first time and hearing them all in unison was a very very emotional moment. To see people participating from all walks of life, all ranges of ability and all ages was truly special."

To get an idea of how loud it gets when you put so many drummers in the same room, watch some footage from the previous world record attempt:
