biography I started playing the drums in 1972, and purchased a 5-piece Rogers Londoner kit from Drum City in Hollywood in 1973. I took lessons from Bob Levey, son of famous bebop and west coast cool jazz drummer Stan Levey (Parker, Gillespie, Davis, Rumsey's light house allstars, etc.). Bob was a moderately successful drummer in his own right...now living in Colorado and still playing a bit.

Most of our focus was on reading and jazz drumming, with the typical emphasis on independence and hand-to-hand. I already had a grasp of structure, etc. because I took trumpet lessons in junior high.

I sold my Rogers kit (with matching maple Dynasonic snare) to a fellow in Italy in May 2008 after 35 years of continuous ownership.

Took delivery on a new custom set of Ludwig Classic Maple drums the middle of October 2008

The new kit in white pearl has a 14 x 22 kick drum, 8 x 12 rack tom, 14 x 14 and 16 x 16 floor toms, a 5 x 14 LS401TM in matching WMP maple snare and a 5 x 14 LM400KTM Supraphonic with tube lugs, Millenium strainer, and hand hammered.

My big influences: Bill Kreutzmann, John Guerin, Charlie Watts, Jim Keltner.
