Dirk "Drumdidi" Leibenguth

Dirk Leibenguth (Neunkirchen/Saar, Germany, 1968) started playing drums in 1984 at the age of sixteen. From 1989 to 1992 he studied jazz drums at the Conservatory in Luxemburg, and received lessons from Thomas Alkier, Sperie Karras, Gary Chaffee,Dennis Chambers, Michael Küttner and Udo Dahmen.

From 1992 to 1996 he studied jazz drums at the Folkwanghochschule in Essen, Germany (with Thomas Alkier as teacher) and finished in 1996 with a jazz grade. Comments Leibenguth:
"Since 1992 I have played in many different bands, different styles like Jazz, HipHop, Pop, Blues, Fusion, Chanson, Musical, Singer-Songwriter, toured all over Europe, played tv shows, festivals and did some recordings. Teaching is also an important part of my work which I like very much."
Dirk Leibenguth has worked with Susan Weinert, Exponential Enjoyment, DCS, Curse, Olli Banjo and many others.

Recent activities include Curse, Olli Banjo, Dieter Greifenberg Trio and the Susan Weinert Band.

Dirk Leibenguth names Tony Williams, Elvin Jones, Vinnie Colaiuta, Peter Erskine, Jeff Porcaro, and Steve Gadd as sources of musical inspiration.
