Tommy Igoe has been at the forefront of drumset performance and education for the last 20 years. He started playing at the age of two and never stopped, winning every local and regional competition in the New York City area during his school years. While studying drumset in high school, he also marched in the famed early 1980's Bayonne Bridgemen drum corps calling it
still to this day, one of the most important musical experiences of my life.
At the age of 18, he embarked on his first world tour with the Glenn Miller Orchestra. From then on, it was a non-stop stream of gigs, such as playing and recording with Lauryn Hill, New York Voices, Dave Grusin, Stanley Jordan and Blood Sweat & Tears as well as hundreds of commercials, TV and film scores. As a solo artist, his debut cd 'New Ground' was awarded numerous 5 star reviews and tracks from this recording are featured on several leading drum manufacturers compilations, including Drum Workshop and Vic Firth.
Lately, Tommy Igoe has focused his efforts on education releasing 2 groundbreaking dvd's that have set a new standard for drum education. Getting Started on Drums, considered the most comprehensive beginning video available and the just released Groove Essentials, the only complete groove encyclopedia available today on dvd.

Tommy Igoe composed the drumset book for record breaking musical The Lion King on Broadway, where he still serves today as principal drummer and associate conductor. He has also served as professor of Jazz Studies at Rutgers University. Currently, he also tours with the legendary Art Garfunkel which takes him to all corners of the globe every year.
