Oli Beaudoin was born in 1984. He began playing drums at the age of twelve, fooling around in various musical projects until he moved to Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 2000. From that point, he decided to follow the musical guidance of local top drum instructors and dove into different musical genres like jazz, blues, funk and latin to develop his own approach to rock and metal drumming. In 2002, he started working as a private drum instructor as well as playing as a session drummer for several bands in the Montreal area.
Oli Beaudoin formed the alternative metal band Stareblind in 2006 and then joined the metalcore formation ENDAST (independent) in 2007 to help support a pan-Canadian tour for the release of their second studio album Odds Against Tomorrow. Things heated for him in 2009, as Stareblind (independent) released their first full-length album Something Left Unexplained, considered as one of the most innovative Canadian alternative metal albums of 2009. Coming right back from a gig as a percussionist for Holland America Lines cruises to Alaska in the summer of 2009, he parted ways with his original band to join as a full time member the Montreal technical metal formation Neuraxis (Prosthetic Records). Neuraxis then entered the studio in early 2010 to record their groundbreaking sixth effort called 'Asylon' which was released in February 2011.
After two North American 6 and 7-weekers assaults with headliners Deicide and Sepultura playing for Neuraxis during spring 2011, Oli Beaudoin left again his home country again in autumn 2011 for a South American raid with Austrian Metal Legends Belphegor (Nuclear Blast Records) just before appearing as a clinician for the Montreal Drumfest 2011. He then took off right away with Norwegian Stars Keep Of Kalessin (Nuclear Blast Records) by the end of Fall 2011 for a North American tour with Mayhem headlining. To kick things off for 2012, OIi stepped onboard the 70 000 Tons of Metal cruise from Florida to Cayman Islands for Canadian death metal pioneers Kataklysm (Nuclear Blast Records) to help secure the line-up.
Oli Beaudoin recently confirmed his involvement with Kataklysm for their 11th studio album that should be their most devastating effort to date. He will also be playing as live session drummer both for Ex Deo (Napalm Records) and Kataklysm for summer 2013, including performances at Bloodstock UK Festival sharing the stage with Lamb Of God, Slayer and King Diamond as headliners and Brutal Assault in Costa Rica with Cannibal Corpse headlining. Oli is also currently working on a multi-angle instructional dvd that should be released in early 2014.
Oli Beaudoin is currently endorsed by Axis Percussion, Mapex drums, Paiste cymbals, Evans drumheads, Puresound snare wires, Regal Tip drumsticks and Sennheiser microphones.
